a) If you have a Mac: Through the System Profiler:

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer
  2. Click on the “Apple” symbol in the left upper corner of your screen
  3. Click “About this Mac” (-> a small window opens)
  4. Click the “More Info” button
  5. Select Hardware -> USB in the left menu bar
  6. Click on “USB High-Speed Bus in the USB Device Tree and select “iPhone” or “iPod”
  7. Copy the 40 digit number (hex format)

b) PC/Mac: Through iTunes:

  1. Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer
  2. Start iTunes
  3. Click on your device name (xxx’s iPhone) under the left menu bar “DEVICES”
  4. Click on Summary
  5. Click on “Serial Number” (yes, you have to click literally ON the word serial number, like shown below)
  6. Retrieve the “Identifier”, a 40 digit hex code”
